Frequently Asked Questions
Is Spin Master free?
Yes. Spin Master is free to use and does not need an account. It is supported by advertising and optional donations.
Are my names saved?
No. Names you type stay in your browser and disappear when you close or refresh the page, so copy your list with the Share button if you want to reuse it. If you use a Meeting Room, the names in the room are stored on Google Firebase so everyone sees the same wheel. If you use the AI generator, the topic you type is sent through our server to an AI provider. The Privacy Policy explains each of these.
How random is the wheel?
The stopping angle comes from your browser's secure random number generator, and every slice is the same size. In a simulation of one million spins per wheel size, every slice's share landed within about 0.15 percentage points of the ideal. Our guide explains how a spin works in detail.
How many names can I add?
There is no fixed limit, but wheels with more than about 30 to 40 slices become hard to read. For very long lists, number your entries and draw a number.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The layout adapts to the screen. On a narrow portrait phone some controls, such as the wheel mode menu, are hidden, so turn the phone sideways or use a larger screen if you cannot see them.
How do I stop the same name winning twice?
Turn on Remove winner after spin in the sidebar, or click Remove Winner in the winner window. The name is taken off the wheel. In a Meeting Room the host can add removed names back with one click.
Can I spin with friends who are not in the same place?
Yes. Create a Meeting Room with the Room button, then share the invite link, QR code or six-character code. Everyone sees the same wheel and the same winner on their own device.
What is Pass-On Mode?
In a Meeting Room, the host can turn on Pass-On Mode so that the winner of each spin performs the next spin. If the person whose turn it is does not spin within ten seconds, the turn moves on to the next person in the room.
Why is there no sound at first?
Browsers block audio until you interact with the page. Click anywhere on the page and the sounds will start. You can change the volumes or turn sounds off in Audio settings.
How does the AI list generator work, and is it private?
Describe a topic in the AI tab and it drafts a list of short entries. The text you type is sent through our server to an AI service (Cloudflare Workers AI, or Groq as a backup). We do not store it ourselves, but please do not enter personal information.
